Anyone walking past the Menzer-Werft-Platz on Tuesday evening could see it: the security fencing is almost complete, the stage is largely assembled, the site is taking shape. Cable drums are still lying around and forklifts are doing their rounds, but the silhouette is already there, and anyone who has seen it knows what is coming to Geesthacht this weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, 7 and 8 August, the Dynabeat Festival goes into its third edition. For the first time across two days. It is going to be a wild weekend on the Elbe.
From the town anniversary to the biggest open air in Geesthacht
Born in 2024 as an idea for the town's 100th anniversary, followed in 2025 by a second edition with Special D. and Brooklyn Bounce DJ, and now the jump to two festival days. Behind Dynabeat are Roman and Helmo, who play themselves as the DJ duo Bassmassage and who built the format up from inside the scene. The trade magazine DJ Mag reports that the organisers are expecting up to 5,000 visitors this year.
The old link still fits far too well not to mention it: Alfred Nobel invented dynamite right here in 1866. Where the gunpowder works once stood, the sound system now stands.

Two names stand out. Westbam on Friday, one of the defining figures of German rave culture since the early nineties, plays from 8 to 9.30 pm. Gestört aber Geil on Saturday, the duo with the chart hits and the full festival routine, take over from 9.30 to 11 pm. Both names you do not get to read on a poster in Geesthacht every day.
There is one change: DJ Dean, originally announced for Friday, has had to withdraw for health reasons according to the organisers.
When it starts
The timetable on dynabeat.de lists Sambo at 3 pm as the first act on Friday and Steve Norton at 2 pm on Saturday. Both days end at midnight.
A note for anyone planning to be there early: the events calendar on geesthacht.de gives 5 pm as the Friday start. That entry reflects an earlier stage of the organisers' planning, and it lists only the first acts announced. Westbam does not appear there at all. The authoritative source is the timetable on dynabeat.de, which is expressly subject to change.
What to know beforehand
Admission from 16, under-18s only when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Payment is cashless only. The festival wristband is the wallet. It is topped up online in advance, in cash at the entrance or by card at the terminals. Remaining credit is refunded online after the festival, cash payouts on site are not possible, so top up in small steps rather than rounding up generously just before midnight.
There will only be a box office on the day if capacity is still free at all. Anyone who wants to be sure of getting in buys online beforehand.
There is parking at the site, but it is limited. For anyone living in Geesthacht, walking or cycling is the nicer option anyway, especially on the way home along the bank of the Elbe.
